The huge outbreak this monday has been well documented in the news, and in newspapers from all over the world. however, scientists say that it was not an unusual hapening, and that we are going to see more like it, in the next years, as the sun hits a high in its sunspot cycle.
Bring it on, I say, as it really is a fantastic thing to watch, an to try and photograph.
This pic is a bit unsharp, and not technically very good, but it gives an impression of the outbreak. I chose to include the city in the picture, but it is obvious that the light pollution reduces the sharpness and details in the aurora. To best see it, one should go somewhere dark, well out of town, preferrably with a view over the sea.
